Carbon Fiber does not work. The proposed tensile strength of an 1/8th inch thick band-aid does not provide controlled compression to keep a crack stabilized and guarantee that cracks don’t widen or shift. Carbon fiber is made for automobile bumpers and to provide strength on products that need to flex – you do NOT want your pool shell to be able to flex. If you can hold a carbon fiber staple in your hand and bend it like a pretty rainbow – image what four tons of concrete is going to do to that carbon fiber ribbon when force is applied.
Trust only the strength of cold rolled steel. We implore you to try and bend it – you simply can’t. Now, add to that strength, the controlled compression of up to 5000 lbs. of compression at every 12 inches along the length of your structural crack. Not only will the crack be resistant to further cracking, it won’t have the ability to shift, shear or separate, regardless of what you hit it with. Finish over the secured area and enjoy the fact that your pool will never leak from that crack again.
The health of your swimming pool is at stake. Don’t trust it to something that folds and snaps like a pine twig. Fix it right the first time and rest assured knowing that your structure is safer by using Torque Lock Structural Staples.
